A inspiring day at the Liveable Neighbourhoods Conference 2025

On Thursday 20 November, Enfield welcomed practitioners, councillors, designers and community representatives from across the country for the annual Liveable Neighbourhoods Conference, organised by Landor LINKS and supported by Enfield Council’s Journeys and Places programme.

The event brought people together to explore how neighbourhoods can become healthier, more connected and more inclusive. It created a space for discussion on transport, public realm design, community partnership and the importance of putting local people at the heart of change.

Deputy Leader Councillor Tim Leaver opened the conference and spoke about Enfield’s ambition to support more walking, wheeling, cycling, helping people make choices that contribute to a more vibrant, greener and healthier borough.

Delegates took part in four plenary sessions covering themes including the creation of inclusive infrastructure, community engagement, and the role of culture and creativity in improving places. Speakers shared examples from across the UK, demonstrating how councils and communities are working together to improve their streets and public spaces. The event was an opportunity to share the experiences of delivering projects across Enfield, with a number of the Journeys and Places team among speakers.

A walking tour of the Enfield Town Liveable Neighbourhood project area gave participants the opportunity to experience recent improvements first-hand. The tour explored ongoing and recently delivered work in Enfield Town centre, including Saddler’s Square and Library Gardens.

Thank you to all who joined us, shared insights and contributed to a thoughtful and inspiring day.
