Nick, who lives near the New River, says the path has transformed his journey with his young son, Ben, to nursery on Baker Street.

“Congratulations to everyone involved in making the new New River path happen,” Nick said. “As each section has opened, it has cut the cycling journey time from where we live to my toddler’s nursery. We both absolutely love using the path and are always talking about the wildlife we see.”
The pair have spotted a wide range of animals on their regular rides, including mallards, mandarin ducks, cormorants, herons, egrets, coots, moorhens, squirrels, foxes and dragonflies.
Nick added: “I also use the path for leisure cycling on my own and always enjoy it. We are looking forward to the final parts opening. This project deserves the highest praise – it’s brilliant!”
He shared photos of himself and Ben enjoying the route, as well as a video capturing Ben’s excitement when they discovered a new section had opened.
The New River path is being delivered in stages, offering a safe and scenic route for walkers, cyclists and families to travel through the borough and beyond.
