The Pavilion on The Green in Edmonton has won the Inspire Future Generations Award for Community Engagement.
During Summer 2024, Enfield Council’s Journeys and Places Team worked with Fisher Cheng Architects and the Edmonton community to create a shared vision for The Green. Together, they co-designed and built a temporary pavilion.
The Pavilion hosted a summer programme of over 60 events attended by more than 1,000 people. They were delivered by local individuals and organisations, becoming a much-loved space and providing a platform for culture and creativity.
The programme featured creative workshops for young people and families, including guided nature walks, den-building, live music, poetry, theatre, and wellbeing sessions. These activities were run in partnership with local groups Doodle Design, Exodus Youth Worx and Northside Youth.
Now adopted as one of Enfield’s five new ‘Culture Places,’ the Pavilion will be co-managed by the Council and local organizations to continue hosting arts, culture, and community events—bringing lasting change to Edmonton.
