Harriette Meynell Announced as Artist-in-Residence at Arbeit Studios

Harriette Meynell has been named the fourth artist in residence at Arbeit Studios in Palmers Green, as part of the High Street Happenings Residency Programme. Known for her socially engaged practice, Meynell works across various media, including sound, installation, drawing, printmaking, performance, and photography.

Her work often addresses themes of gentrification and community, and has been displayed at prestigious venues like Tate Modern and unconventional sites like an east London garage.

During her residency, Harriette will create site-specific art inspired by the shops and people of Palmers Green. Her project will explore shop interiors and exteriors, focusing on the threshold and why people choose to enter or avoid certain spaces. Rather than re-imagining the high street, Meynell aims to understand and highlight the often unseen aspects of these familiar spaces.

Her final exhibition will be held from November 29 to December 15, 2024, and will feature free community workshops. More details on the workshops will be announced soon.
