TfL Cycle Sundays – leisurely bike routes, perfect for Sundays

The central aim of the Mayor of London’s Transport Strategy is for 80 per cent of all trips in London to be made on foot, by cycle or using public transport by 2041. The Cycling Action Plan 2 aims to diversify cycling and increase the number of daily trips from 1.2 to 1.6 million daily cycle journeys day by 2030. Increased cycling levels benefit public health and our high streets and are vital in our fight against climate change – but cycling must become a genuine option for all.

TfL’s new active travel initiative, ‘TfL Cycle Sundays’ is intended to create a ‘social movement’ for cycling which helps Londoners associate Sundays with going out for a cycle on quieter paths and roads. It targets all non-cyclists and lapsed cyclists in London who are open to cycling, to give cycling a go. TfL Cycle Sundays provides them with the tools to get cycling including a choice of leisurely cycle routes suitable for beginners, free cycle training, safety tips, offers and cycling discounts.

For those without access to a bike, free Santander Cycles Day Pass’ offering unlimited 30-minute cycle rides will be available every Sunday from 3 to 30 June using redemption code CYCLESUNDAYS. This can be redeemed either at the terminal or in the app (terms and conditions apply).
