The Journeys and Places team has had a fantastic year with several accomplishments and awards for the program. In 2023, we launched engagement on various new walking and cycling routes, including the Great Cambridge Junction to Bridport Road Walking and Cycling Route, the New River (Tenniswood Road) to Brick Lane Walking and Cycling Route, the New Southgate Station to Palmers Green Station route, the Southgate Circus to Great Cambridge Junction Walking and Cycling Route, the Old Park Road N13 to Pymmes Park Walking and Cycling Route, and the Enfield Town to Ponders End Walking and Cycling Route.
We have also launched engagement on two newly proposed Quieter Neighbourhoods, Bowes East QN and Edmonton Green QN. We went live with four new School Streets in the borough and launched engagement on three further School Streets.
We installed our 100th bike hangar, bringing the total to 109 bike hangers throughout the borough, and installed the first two Mobility Corals.
Our Place Shaping team launched the Curate Enfield program, which is a grassroots public art program that will create five new public artworks for the borough – one for each of our town centers: Angel Edmonton, Edmonton Green, Enfield Town, Palmers Green, and Southgate.
In addition to all of the above, the Journeys and Places team has organized various events and activities across the borough, including Dr Bike’s, adult cycle skills sessions, and the incredibly popular All Ability Cycle Hub in Bush Hill Park.
The Journeys and Places team would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
